As part of its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being—the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at Wasit University launched a campaign titled “Healthcare for Students in Wasit Province Schools”, in conjunction with World Hearing Day.

The initiative included a field visit to Lubaba Primary School for Girls, where Dr. Ruaa Luay Yasser delivered an awareness lecture to students about the importance of hearing health, proper ear care practices, and the risks associated with using headphones at high volumes. The lecture also emphasized the dangers of using cotton swabs in ear cleaning.

The campaign also involved medical ear examinations for the students, along with guidance for those in need of further check-ups and treatment—free of charge—in coordination with the medical team. The event benefited over 300 students, following the required official approvals.

Dr. Nada Nidhal, Director of the Psychological Counseling Department, expressed the university’s continuous commitment to community service and its efforts to foster effective collaboration between educational institutions like Wasit University and other community sectors. The initiative reflects the university’s dedication to preventive healthcare and improving the overall well-being of young learners.
