
Scientific Seminar at the College of Agriculture Focuses on Eradicating Hunger and Enhancing Food Security
The College of Agriculture at Wasit University organized a scientific seminar titled “Organizations and Sustainable Development Goals”, attended by undergraduate students. The seminar focused on the second goal of the Sustainable Development Goals: ending hunger and achieving food security.
The seminar was presented by Asst. Lect. Sara Ali Hussein, who discussed the role of national and international organizations in combating hunger and promoting food security. It also reviewed the contributions of the government, private sectors, and civil society organizations in supporting sustainable agriculture and achieving self-sufficiency.
The seminar highlighted the importance of developing agricultural policies, enhancing local production, and innovating farming techniques to address the negative effects of climate change on food security. It stressed the importance of effective partnerships to achieve this vital goal.
The seminar recommended integrating the concept of food security into development policies, supporting scientific research in sustainable agriculture, and raising awareness among young people, encouraging them to play a key role in eradicating hunger through innovative and sustainable agricultural projects.
In conclusion, the seminar emphasized that achieving food security is a shared responsibility that requires coordinated efforts from all institutions to build a future free from hunger, ensuring dignity and stability for every individual in society.
