The President of Wasit University, Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Subaih Lafta Al-Zubaidi, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, along with a group of the university’s scholarship faculty members, participated in the First National Conference for Iraqi Scholarship Students. The event was hosted by the University of Baghdad and attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, as well as presidents of Iraqi universities and prominent academic and research figures.

The conference witnessed significant participation from researchers and Iraqi scholars from various universities. Discussions focused on the challenges facing scholarship students and the prospects for developing scholarship programs to enhance their scientific and research capabilities and align them with national development plans.

In his remarks, the Minister emphasized the importance of supporting scholarship students and overcoming the obstacles they face, highlighting the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to create a conducive environment for investing their knowledge and expertise in various fields upon their return to Iraq.

The conference concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at improving the scholarship system and strengthening the connection between scholarship students and academic institutions in Iraq.
